leavitt burials
With just too many gravestone photos to be included on the Hingham page, Hingham Centre (aka Center) Cemetery now has its own listing. Was also called Hingham Plains Cemetery.

John Leavitt was born 1608 in England and settled in Hingham MA in the 1630s, after first arriving in Dorchester. Since John Leavitt's descendants are so numerous, we break those branches down to his 5 sons who had families, Samuel, Israel, Moses, Josiah, and Nehemiah, and his daughters.

HINGHAM CENTER CEMETERY - School Street. These main Leavitt stones are on the walkway along School Street, aka "Leavitt Avenue", and the brick tomb is a unique feature of the cemetery. When the Old Ship Church cemetery road was widened a century later, some remains that were identifiable were brought to this cemetery. It is believed that the remains near the old stone of John were brought here, so it is likely the tomb includes the remains of his wife also. Possibly likewise with Israel. Take "Leavitt Avenue" around the corner to "North Avenue", behind and to the left of the Leavitt Tomb, for these Josiah descendants:
Martin Leavitt family lot, and in order L to R: Lydia Jones, 2nd wife, May 12, 1793 - Dec 8, 1874; Martin Lincoln Leavitt (John, Josiah, Hezekiah, Joshua), July 9, 1793 - June 2, 1868; Tirzah Pratt Thomas, first wife, 1794 - Nov 30, 1832; David Leavitt, son of Martin, Feb 8, 1820- Apr 10, 1876; Martha Ann Davis, wife 1822-1887.
In the Lot view, you'll see a stone in the background, which I've zoomed in on for the last photo because I could make out a Leavitt. Can anyone provide a better photo? Benjamin Thomas & Lydia Whiton had a son Benjamin 1799-1854 who married Sally Loring Leavitt 1803-1889.
