Welcome to the website of the National Association of Leavitt Families
"If your name is Leavitt or one of your ancestors was named Leavitt, you are very probably a descendant of John Leavitt of Hingham or Thomas Leavitt of Hampton"
CAN YOU IDENTIFY THE PEOPLE IN THE ABOVE PHOTO? Let us know. This was from the 1935 NALF Reunion in Hingham Centre, Massachusetts.
“There are three types of people in this world:
The Leavitts, people who marry Leavitts, and people who wish they were Leavitts.”
So says Richard Franklin Leavitt of Maine (1939-2018, Israel Leavitt line.)

The National Association of Leavitt Families, Inc. is an organization formed in 1934 with the objective of promoting acquaintance and good fellowship among the living descendants of immigrant John Leavitt, who settled in the section of the New England Colonies now known as Hingham, MA in 1636; and immigrant Thomas Leavitt, who settled in the section now known as Hampton, NH in 1639; and to establish such memorials to their name and memory as may be most appropriate. SCHOLARSHIP 2023
From Nancy, as posted on Facebook on 4/10: May 1st is fast approaching. As you may remember that is the deadline for the application for the NALF scholarship to be mailed each year. I have encouraged all young people as well as their senior relatives to begin gathering their papers and documents early in the school year in preparation for the May 1st deadline for several years now. The rules have not changed. The deadline is still May 1st for the postmark on your envelope for the application. You will find an application form on the website as well as in the last Leavitt Leaves newsletter. The rules and regulations are also printed in the last Leavitt Leaves newsletter as well as on the website. My name and address has not changed and can also be found in the same two places. I am looking forward to receiving several applications this year and I'm encouraging you to get them in the mail so that they beat the deadline. There's only about 3 weeks left. So, if you are considering applying for the scholarship I encourage you to gather your papers and documents required and get them sent off to me soon. Please make sure your letters of reference are signed by the authors. I wish all our Leavitt students the very best whether they are planning to further their education after high school or not. Please remember as I said before "you can't hit a homerun if you don't swing the bat"! SEE: the SCHOLARSHIP page for instructions and application |
