OUR OBJECTIVES
The National Association of Leavitt Families, Inc. [NALF] is an organization started in 1934 and renewed in 1983 with the objective of promoting acquaintance and good fellowship among the living descendants of John Leavitt and Thomas Leavitt, immigrants from England, who settled in New England in the years 1628 and 1637. A second objective is to establish such memorials to their names and memory as shall be most appropriate. See also our History pages.
The Association is incorporated in the State of New Hampshire as a not-for-profit corporation, and registered with the IRS as a 501(c)7.

FEES & BENEFITS
Membership in the National Association of Leavitt Families, Inc. is open to all descendants of John Leavitt and Thomas Leavitt. Regular dues are $15 for a full year, or 2 years for $25. Benefits of membership include our newsletter Leavitt Leaves, usually four issues of about 12-16 pages each, an annual reunion held normally in June or September, and assistance with Leavitt family genealogical questions within our scope.
We compile complete genealogies of known descendants of John Leavitt & Thomas Leavitt and solicit your research and immediate family updates. We share genealogy files and cousin listings among members.

We also have special funds for Research/DNA, Scholarship, Reunions, and Where Most Needed, to cover expenses and undertake occasional projects related to the objectives stated elsewhere. You may designate which fund you wish to support.
Research/ DNA Fund - Donations will be set aside for these projects. A recent mystery was solved and proven by purchasing a $10 death certificate with the parents' names, that was not available online.
We try to prove some lines with DNA matching. We encourage Leavitt descendants to test on their own. If you can't afford it, and are of a line requiring more documentation, we may be able to help with the expense of Y-paternal testing.
Reunions Fund - We try to make reunions affordable and priced to just cover expenses. If attendance is down, we sometimes lose money. It is nice to have a cushion.
Scholarships Fund - see separate Scholarships page. We currently have a healthy fund, but may be able to give extra awards if we had more available.
"Where Most Needed" - this sort of replaced the "Supporting Membership" category and is spent where most needed without being restricted to one thing. We have many expenses, like printing/mailing the newsletter which sometimes exceed new dues payments. We also began a new website, and now pay for hosting and a domain name, giving us more flexibility like a secure members-only section where we can offer our Leavitt research materials, etc, and more flexibility in making additional pages, like pages for all our Leavitt gravestone, reunion, and people photos.
Lifetime Memberships are available on a sliding scale depending on age (check preferred on large amounts because of the paypal fee, or use Paypal's send money to a friend fee-free, below):
50-56 Years Old $300.
57-64 Years Old $225.
65+ Years Old $150.
