LEAVITT CEMETERY
The grave of Jacob and Martha Leavitt in Leavitt Cemetery, located on Canterbury Road in Chichester. The cemetery was created by the state legislature in 1854 as a stock company, with several prominent residents of town the stockholders. It was taken over by the town in 1936. It is a little over seven acres. Jacob P. Leavitt, 78, who died Dec. 19, 1907, was listed in historical records as a blacksmith and farmer. His wife, Martha A. Leavitt, was 40 when she died Jan. 31, 1874. (Thomas Leavitt line.)
